The Art of Michael Bedard

About The Art of Michael BedardAbout UsMichael Bedard was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and eventually settled in Los Angeles in the late sixties. He first entered the art marketplace in 1977 with a series of whimsical and allegorical art prints -- many of which are still in print today. Bedard's Sitting Ducks poster is one of the most widely recognized and largest selling posters in the history of the medium. He has consistently topped the list of best-selling poster artists for nearly twenty years. Very few artists can make a similar claim. He is the winner of the Governor General's Literary Award (1990) and the Canadian Library Association Book of the Year Award for Children (1991), both for his novel, Redwork. In the early eighties, Bedard was looking for a way to express a broad range of feelings about the human condition and wanted to use humor as a vehicle for addressing very serious issues such as vulnerability, alienation and anxiety, as well as social and political observations. Bedard chose the duck because it symbolized the vulnerability and attitude that comprises the human psyche.Raven GoodwinBoth books will appear in the coming month. The book on the history of the Zionist-Arab conflict will be published in Hebrew by Am Oved in Tel Aviv, while the Cambridge University Press will publish The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem Revisited (it originally appeared, under the CUP imprint, in 1987). That book describes in chilling detail the atrocities of the Nakba. Isn't Morris ever frightened at the present-day political implications of his historical study? Isn't he fearful that he has contributed to Israel becoming almost a pariah state? After a few moments of evasion, Morris admits that he is. Sometimes he really is frightened. Sometimes he asks himself what he has wrought.Poems and PoetryLove PoemsOriginal PoetryReader PoetryPoem GeneratorPoem Generator IIMagnetic PoetrySubmit PoetryThe Dutch Furs MailinglistU.S. News & World ReportKari WuhrerRelated Popular Books:Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna ClarkeHumorous Bird Poster - BirdPosters Poster-Tiere (4)Reprinting items retrieved from the archives are for personal use only. Works of art that are as bizarre and wonderful as the ducks are amusing. It's that body of work which inspires the projects he has undertaken with Planet West Publishers. 2004 Mackenzie Thorpe All Rights ReservedOrnamentsGiftsItem in stock!Sarah Lancashire 29.99Duck SoupArt Print28x24A former bright spot on cable TV comes home.Apr 22 '04 (Updated Apr 23 '04)
