It tells the story of four street-kids who are on the run. After a botched "speed" transaction, they are pursued into a cinema by the police. As a last resort, they take the audience hostage. The Venue:For added realism, the play should be enacted in a real cinema. There would be no fake sets . It would be a real set .The Basic Staging and Special Effects:The acting does not take place on a stage. There are actors in the audience and outside the doors. The acting will take place in the aisles and around the audience. The audience will experience a very real drama at very close quarters.(NB. None of the paying audience would ever be physically touched). The audience's imagination will be aroused by a wide range of powerful stimuli. Pre-recorded audio and video tapes will give the impression of external activity. (eg. approaching police sirens, screeching tyres, gunshots, negotiator's dialogue, police barricades being erected, reporters and relatives interviews, State Protection Group / S.W.A.T. officers taking positions, ambulances, hovering helicopters, feet running on the roof, gathering crowd scenes etc. etc.) The audience will think that the cinema has been surrounded by gathering emergency forces. It will create an environment that will capture more than the audience's imagination. The production is not limited to only one venue. As there are no sets to transport and erect, the play is relatively easy to tour. The Characters:The main characters are not hardened criminals. They are street-kids. They are kids passing through what ought to be the best years of their lives. They feel hemmed in. They feel that everyone and no-one is making decisions for them. Kids with nowhere to go, except the streets. Throw-away kids. Homeless and hopeless. They are wasting their lives. For most adults, they are difficult to like or trust and impossible to understand. But like them or not, we can't forget that these are citizens of the future. If we don't face up to these facts, others will follow in their paths. They can't be ignored. The Product Positioning: Sitting Ducks is a mixture of cinema and theatre.Cinema---------- 'Sitting Ducks'----------Theatre.It takes the basic strengths of both mediums and integrates them. It is more real' than a film because it has live actors rather than projected images. It is more real than a play because it has a real set. The action is not confined to a distant stage, instead it is all-enveloping action. The audience will feel that they are involved with the story, rather than mere observers. It is theatre-in-the-round taken to its extreme. It is theatre verite. The Target Market:Primary market18 to 35 year old movie-goers.Experience-seekers.Socially aware.Secondary marketArtist ListingsA B C D E F GH I J K L M NO P Q R S T UV W X Y ZReading AloudTwelve issues per year. The merchants listed on PayPal Shops operate independently from PayPal, and PayPal does not endorse any merchant or assume responsibility for transactions conducted with them.ANIMATION ART GALLERY PAGES - cels and drawingsMichigan State University LibrariesSpecial Collections DivisionReading Room Index to the Comic Art Collection Comique to Comixscene Back to the C index screenBack to the A to Z index screenBack up the list----------------------------------------------------- Comique p. 13 in Les Cahiers de la Bande Dessinée, no. 89(June 1990). -- Brief review of: Urbi et Orbi (Seyer). --(Critiques d'Albums) -- no.: PN6745.S37no.89-----------------------------------------------------Comique.Index entry ( Index des Notions ) (p. 73, 86, 166, 191) inSystème de la Bande Dessinée, by Thierry Groensteen (Paris: Presses Universitaires de France, 1999). -- no.:PN6714.G76 1999-----------------------------------------------------Comiqueando. -- Buenos Aires, Argentina : Comiqueando Press,1994- . -- ill. ; 26 cm. -- Began with no. 1 (Mayo de1994). -- Periodical about comics. -- Editor: AndrésAccorsi. -- LIBRARY HAS: no. 1-54 (1994-2001) -- no.:PN6790.A7C6-----------------------------------------------------Comiqueando Press.Bruno Helmet. -- Buenos Aires, Argentina : ComiqueandoPress, 1999- . -- ill. ; 26 cm. -- Began with no. 1(Noviembre de 1999). -- Superhero. -- LIBRARY HAS: no. 1-2(1999-2000). -- no.: PN6790.A74B7-----------------------------------------------------Comiqueando Press.Comiqueando. -- Buenos Aires, Argentina : ComiqueandoPress, 1994- . -- ill. ; 26 cm. -- Began with no. 1 (Mayode 1994). -- Periodical about comics. -- Editor: AndrésAccorsi. -- LIBRARY HAS: no. 1-54 (1994-2001) -- no.:PN6790.A7C6-----------------------------------------------------Comiqueando Press.El Regreso de Daigar / Ignacio Rodríguez. -- Buenos Aires :Comiqueando Press, 1999. -- 48 p. : ill. ; 26 cm. -- Llegael primer manga argentino! -- Edicion especial invierno1999 . -- no.: PN6790.A73 R6R4 1999-----------------------------------------------------La Comisión.Index entry (p. 31) in Historia del Comic Español,1875-1939, by Antonio Martín (Barcelona : Editorial GustavoGili, 1978) -- no.: PN6775.M37 1978-----------------------------------------------------Comiseration.The Blank in the Comics strip collection includes a file ofone or more daily comic strips related to this keyword ortopic. no.: PN6726 f.B55-----------------------------------------------------Comiskey, Nancy--Interviews. It was even better that Fred put you up for the night so you wouldn't have to find lodgings at Aunt Agnes's house. Fred's been your best friend since high school, and you'd like it to stay that way. What thank-you gift is more appropriate than a telephone call, more legible than a handwritten note, and has a lifespan longer than a houseplant's? Why, books, of course! REVIEWS BY MIRIAM E. DRENNANSitting Ducks is geared toward the children's market, but many adults will recognize author/illustrator Michael Bedard's artwork. Best known for his poster illustrations, Bedard makes his debut in picture books with a wonderful story about an odd-couple friendship between a factory-employed alligator and factory-hatched duck. Ducks are normally the primary meal in the alligator's world, but a chance meeting forges a friendship between these two. The alligator does what he can to protect his little friend, but alas, the duck wants to see the world that lies beyond the alligator's apartment. The only chance the little duck has for survival is to leave the alligator's world forever, but that would leave the alligator alone and heartbroken -- right? Sitting Ducks teaches lessons in friendship and diversity, and Bedard's hilarious illustrations will keep readers smiling, even through the not-so-happy parts.Sitting DucksAuthor/Illustrator Michael BedardPutnam & Grosset, 15.99ISBN 0399228470
